1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the X Video Downloader browser extension and the website operated under the echobot.dev domain (together, the “Service”). “We,” “us” and “our” refer to the developer of X Video Downloader.
X Video Downloader is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by X Corp. “X” and “Twitter” are used only to identify the compatible platform.
2. Information We Handle
Account and subscription information
When you create or use an extension account, we may process:
- Your email address and account identifier.
- Your optional profile name or avatar, if supplied through the available sign-in method.
- Your plan, subscription status, entitlement dates and related transaction references.
- Technical records needed to authenticate your session, prevent abuse and support account access.
Information stored or processed locally
The extension may store or process the following information in your browser:
- Download preferences, including folders, batch source type and request interval.
- Free-plan usage counters and temporary batch progress.
- An authentication session used to keep you signed in.
- Temporary post, profile and video metadata available on the supported X/Twitter page so the requested file can be identified.
Payment information
Purchases may be processed by Paddle or PayPal. We do not receive or store your full payment card number. The payment provider handles billing information under its own privacy terms and may provide us with transaction status, subscription identifiers and limited billing details needed to manage your plan.
Website and support information
Our hosting provider may receive standard request data such as an IP address, browser type, requested page and timestamp for security and reliable delivery. If you contact us, we process the message and contact details you provide so we can respond.
3. How Video Downloads Work
When you request a download, the extension reads information exposed to your browser on the active, supported X/Twitter page, identifies available MP4 variants and passes the selected video URL to Chrome's download system. The extension can also scan an accessible profile for Media, Original Posts or Reposts during a batch that you start.
- Downloaded video files are not uploaded to or stored on echobot.dev servers.
- We do not request or store your X/Twitter password.
- We do not sell downloaded content or use it to train artificial intelligence models.
- The extension does not collect unrelated browsing history; page access is used to provide features on supported pages.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide one-click and bulk video download features.
- Authenticate accounts and apply Free or Pro entitlements.
- Maintain settings, usage limits, download progress and reliability.
- Process subscriptions and respond to billing or support requests.
- Protect the Service, investigate abuse and comply with legal obligations.
- Improve performance and fix errors using operational information that is reasonably necessary for those purposes.
5. When Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with:
- Service providers that support hosting, authentication, email delivery, customer support or other essential operations.
- Payment providers, including Paddle or PayPal, when you start or manage a purchase.
- Authorities or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or enforce our terms.
- A successor organization if the Service is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or transfer of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
X/Twitter, the Chrome Web Store, Chrome and other third-party platforms operate independently and process data under their own policies. Your use of those services is governed by their terms and privacy notices.
6. Browser Permissions
The extension requests only the browser capabilities needed for its disclosed functions. These can include access to supported X/Twitter pages, browser storage, downloads and network request information required to detect downloadable video variants. Permissions are used to run features you request, save preferences and deliver files through the browser.
7. Retention and Security
Local extension information remains in your browser until it expires, is cleared by the extension, or you remove it through browser controls or uninstall the extension. Account, subscription and support information is retained while needed to provide the Service, satisfy legitimate operational or legal requirements, resolve disputes and enforce agreements.
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information. No transmission or storage method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection regarding personal information we control.
- You can change extension preferences from its settings and remove local data by clearing extension storage or uninstalling it.
- You can cancel a paid subscription through the payment or account flow made available to you.
- You can request account deletion or exercise applicable privacy rights by contacting us.
We may need to verify your request before acting on it. Some information may be retained where permitted or required by law, including transaction records and records needed for fraud prevention.
9. Cookies and Tracking
The extension uses local browser storage for settings, authentication and feature operation. We do not use the extension to track your activity across unrelated websites for advertising. The website or essential service providers may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies for security, sessions and service delivery.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
11. International Processing
We and our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers and handle information as described in this policy.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Service, providers or legal requirements. We will revise the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice when required. Your continued use after an update is subject to the revised policy.
